We have used many external CD drives over the years; as a homeschooling family with 6 students all ages, laptop use is heavy in our home, and most of our laptops require external CD drives. That being said, we have run the gamut of cheap drives and very expensive drives; inevitably, they all fail at some point. So we weren't expecting perfection, or use more than 3-6 months; a year would be amazing! Unfortunately, this CD drive did not work; we tried it on 3 of our laptops, to no avail. It made a whirring sound, like it was trying to connect, but nothing happened. So it's back to looking!
