Straw men do not a successful argument make.
Being able to put a bunch of letters after your name doesn't mean that straw man arguments suddenly work. This is simply scholars who see the old, white male, traditionally Christian, patriarchy breaking down and they're sounding the alarm bell because change is scary. They build up false enemies and arguments and then attack them. Nothing to see hear but bias confirmation.
