On the last evening of October, not only do we conjure our innate fear of the supernatural, we also engage in performative identity construction, which may, in some situations, perpetuate hegemonic social institutions along with feelings of alienation and gender exploitation. However, inasmuch this relic may also be viewed from the lens of subaltern studies, it can provide an alternative and counterintuitive narrative that in fact mocks the exploitative system in which it was designed.
