Just know what you're getting yourself into
Let me first explain that as far as how well this waterproof shower speaker works, it works fine. It's not too quiet, syncs quickly and produces clear sound. A full charge lasts for about 20 days, which amounts to, definitely depending on your gender and hair length, a personal average of 5 steamy hours of singing along with Billy Joel (or choose another popular artist you prefer belting with during your daily cleanings). With that, I realize it's only a $17 product. I get it; it's not going to be the quality of having a Bose surround sound stereo setup in your bathroom and shower. However, after only owning/using this shower speaker for 54 days, I was quite disappointed this morning when I turned on the hot water for my shower and the Aduro AquaSound wouldn't power up. I loosened the suction cup backing to make sure I wasn't too sleepy to hold the power button on for the required 2 seconds, like any normal person, I shook it in my hand like it were wrapped up for Christmas morning. All I heard was rattling of it's insides. Sadness, disappointment, and apathy were all emotions I went through at that moment. Here's why I'm giving this product only 2 stars: TC Roche and Orwell Needham. You see, in 1866 and 1868, respectively, these two gentlemen patented the first modern suction cups. Little did Mr. Roche and Needham know, that nearly 144 years later, Aduro would attach their game-changing 'invention' to the back of the AquaSound WSP20, allowing bathers to enjoy getting their day started to the sounds of Alanis Morissette's 'Ironic.' I'm not blaming those two men for my low product rating, because how were they to know that Aduro would attach their invention to a heavy, waterproof speaker upon which strains the basic physics their invention is hinged? They (probably) had no idea. Probably. What I imagine caused the demise of my poor WSP20 ("Whispy") is it's inability to stay suctioned and secure to my shower wall. Imagine being the size and weight (plus a pound) of a baseball and trying to stay attached to a plastic shower insert wall, holding on to nothing but a 2 and a half inch wide suction cup. All of this while trying to juggle keeping your bluetooth connected, provide your owner with some shower tunes, surrounded by hot water steam and naked body parts. You would probably fall off the wall too. Actually, you would probably fall off the wall every couple of days, slamming against the bath tub floor like a failed middle school egg drop experiment, rousing my dog to jump up and start barking at the wall. That's pretty much the gist; the WSP20 sucks. I guess I should clarify. In terms of creating a firm, suctioned seal against the shower wall, the WSP20 doesn't suck. It's more designed to just fall and smack against the hard floor. If I were referring to it as a disappointing and bummer of a product that fails to last longer than 2 months, which I am, the WSP20 sucks.
