Silva is a brilliant writer and can develop wonderful characters better than almost any contemporary writer. The Cellist began as yet another great work of this very gifted story teller. Sadly a brilliant tale spins out of control in a miserable, pathetic, unnecessary and unhinged diatribe against President Trump. Yet another manifestation of a Trump haters inability to overcome intense emotional loathing that must be vented. His obvious dislike of Trump was manifest regularly throughout the book and while adding nothing to the story could be tolerated, even accepted. However the last 15% of his narrative sadly devolves into a pathetic testament to the authors need to feed the rage that has engulfed and diminished his gift. Tragic.
