Defective unit, perhaps?
Just a little background about me, I am a registered nurse in my mid-20s who has a chronic heart condition that I have had since I was little so not only do I regularly take my own blood pressure readings, I also take other people's as well. I had really high hopes for this machine due to the stellar reviews. Unfortunately, my unit was extremely disappointing. The unit itself is easy to set up and use, however, the results were poor. My usual systolic blood pressure (SBP) pre-medication is between 100-120s, and with meds it will vary between 90s-110s. Even with the appropriately sized cuff this machine was telling me that my SBP was between 160s-230s. I had taken the readings on various times within a span of a few days and all the readings had been high; even repeat readings were still high. I know for a fact that my blood pressure is not that high, especially because one of the times I chose to use this machine was right after I was discharged from the hospital for a one day heart catch procedure where my blood pressure was taken very frequently for hours. Multiple times this machine pumped the cuff so hard that it went up to 245mmHg and I actually had to stop the machine midway because it hurt my arm so much. I think maybe I just got a defective unit, because there is no way my SBP would be in 160s-230s with me relaxed and not in distress. I will definitely be returning this and trying my luck with a different brand.
