Way too glitchy to justify $550 price tag
I love it when it works, but when it doesn't it's a pain.
It's great to write on, files are easy to organize, I love how it looks and feel, and it's light and mobile.
Great, but it also 1) freezes, 2) crashes, and 3) loses half your pages. (My background: I use this to store pdfs (research articles, short stories, sheet music) and to write (notes for research, stories, etc.))
1) Freezing: happens at least once a day, usually when it's been on for a while because I was working on it. I end up having to restart it.
2) Crashing: happens about once a day. I used to use the reMarkable for sheet music but had to stop when it started crashing in the middle of a song.
3) Losing half your pages: Everything until this point would have earned the reMarkable 4 stars, but this is by far the most DISAPPOINTING feature. There is some issue with the Cloud feature. Technically, I'm supposed to be able to use the reMarkable app on my laptop to export any file on my reMarkable back onto my desktop. 1 time out of 4, I lose pages in the process! This means: 1) I export the file, but only half the pages get exported, 2) the document on my reMarkable tablet then UPDATES and refreshes to the NEW document, 3) I now have NO copy of the full document on either the reMarkable itself or anywhere in the reMarkable Cloud. This is a TREMENDOUS NUISANCE. What is the use of an electronic notebook that loses your notes? I can't recommend this in good conscience until they update the software.
