Don't be fooled- this looks like a great idea
Don't be fooled- this looks like a great idea, but it's in no way practical and is a pain in the butt each time you need to change the water. Which is often, thanks to all of the open area. The tunnel is flimsy, doesn't connect very well, and can easily get knocked off and cause a huge mess. And to top it off, it's 100% made of cheap plastic.
I bought one of these for my daughter's birthday and I was disappointed with it as soon as I took it out of the box. Long story short, each piece is made of cheap plastic. The part for your plants is just a little bin that hangs off the edge of the bowl. The tunnel has pieces that rest on the edge of the bowl as well, and they don't really snap or lock into place. Ours was knocked off within 2 days, spilling water EVERYWHERE, Luckily the fish was not inside the tunnel at the time.
The bowl has a rounded bottom, which really cuts down on the amount of real estate you have for rocks, castles, plants, etc. A flat bottom would have been better. The tunnel was a cool, unique idea, but it's not practical at all. You fill it up separately and plug the ends with little rubber pieces. Then you turn the tunnel upright, put it on the bowl, reach inside the water and remove the plugs. But as your water evaporates, the water in your tunnel drains down into the bowl, which empties the water in the bubble at the top of the tunnel. And the tunnel is THE ABSOLUTE WORST PART ABOUT IT when it comes to changing the water. You either have to reach inside nasty fish water and plug up the ends, or risk nasty fish water gushing out from all of the pressure as soon as you remove the tunnel. And since the entire bowl is open, the water evaporates pretty quickly.
We've had this bowl since August. There's not much to like about it, and sadly I don't think my daughter is excited about having a fish anymore. Just writing this review has reminded me how much I hate it. It looks cool, it's a good idea, but it just doesn't work...
