Well I am not a happy camper today. I purchased the IntelliChlor IC40 in May of 2014. I have used it for 3 years with out any problems and I kept the unit cleaned appropriately. I am getting the the dreaded flashing green light to check the cell. I checked and blades looked clean. I performed a cleaning to make sure no oil residue on the blades. I check the water quality and the salt was in correct range. It is still telling me to check the cell. I checked for percentage of use of the unit and I have 40% use showing. I should have 60% of cell life usage remaining. I called the company to see if any additional steps to reset the unit. They said if it is clean and the unit is still flashing the check cell light that the cell is now bad. I told them I have only used for 3 years and the unit is showing I have 60% remaining of hours of use. I was told the percentage of use of the cell does not really matter and the cells can go bad even with only 40% of hours used. I got no where close to 5 years of use out of the unit. When it works it is great but it does not last longer that 3 years. This is my second unit. My first unit also lasted 3 years but it was an IntelliChlor IC20. I thought it went bad quickly as it was to small for my pool. I have to think about what direction to go at this point. Stay with this unit or switch to different unit or technology.
