I have been purchasing the Merrell Siren sneakers for years. This is probably my 4th or 5th pair. I wear them every day for walking the dog in the woods, on the streets, through mud and puddles. They used to be made with Gore-tex inserts and were demons. I loved them. The fact that they didn't change the style from year to year was also attractive because I'm not into flashy colors on my feet. However, Merrell decided to change from Gore-tex to some unbelievably inferior product. These shoes are neither waterproof like they used to be, nor are they even water resistant! The first puddle I stepped in just rushed right into my shoe. Additionally, the toe box is much more narrow than then used to be, so my pinky toe rubs against the sides, casuing blisters. I'll be looking for a new WATERPROOF shoe....
