They were right, the PURPLE ONE ISN'T QUALITY
My dogs have had Jolly balls for probably 7+ years. We still have the original 8 inch Jolly balls I purchased for my (now deceased) dogs and my newest additions are playing with them. Granted the rope is not in one, and a handle has fallen off another, but the rubber ball remains whole. A year-and-a-half ago I purchased a tug and toss ball 8 inch and my newest addition 80# American Bully has finally ripped the hadle off one side - so it's dangling. It's his favorite toy and we were surprised it lasted as long as it did. That bring said 1.5 years to achieve a little destruction is a good investment IMO.
We received this 10 inch purple Jolly tug and toss today in the mail and literally within 30 minutes maybe 40 minutes the handle is ripped off one side. He's not grinding away at it for 40 minutes either. He's been holding the handle in his mouth running around, and also pushing it around on the ground herding it. So he's not been chewing incessantly in one spot to cause it to break off.
I think the quality of the rubber is lesser than the 8 inch balls. Only guessing but the rubber may actually be thinner around where the handle attaches to the ball itself. Not sure why Jolly Brand would put such an inferior product out, because I'm sure they tested the 10 inch before it's release to the public. Needless to say we're pretty bummed about the purchase. I expect more from Jolly Brand toys especially if they are going to give it to a horse to play with.
