It suctioned well to our high chair table or even the counter. But the problem is that after a while of using them (only ever hand washing and never microwaving) my daughter wanted to feed me a bite of her food. I tasted it and it was like having a spoonful of soap. I quickly made my wife try it to make sure I wasn't going crazy and sure enough she tasted it too. It's not a light taste either, its strong. I took it away and washed it. I used paper plates and then decided to try it with a different meal, the exact same thing. We tried soaking it and different soaps. Nothing worked. We purchased some kids plates and are tossing these out. I contacted the company and they just kept saying to try vinegar and that's it. They would send me 1 (we own 2 mini mats and a bowl plate) plate but I'm not going to risk that again. It's like poisoning your child with soap. They were nice for a while but not worth it.
