This is a very weak rock tumbler that constantly shuts down while polishing rocks. It'll will just stop, and you have to unplug it to start again. After minutes or longer it will shut down again, and again you'll have to unplug it and restart it. Sometimes it will go for 3 minutes, sometimes 30 minutes or an hour or longer, you have to keep checking to see if its running. I actually had it run for several hours, went to bed only to find it had stopped sometime overnight. This is frustrating, what a piece of junk. The build quality looks good, I mean the body is metal, but it's erratic operation makes it useless for it's designed purpose. (I am revising my review): I did return this rock tumbler because it didn't suit my needs, I couldn't get this to continue to run with anything over a very small handful of stones and media. It's amazing how little .5 lbs (8 ounces) actually is, and I guess that's absolutely all this thing can handle. So for very young children, who are only going to polish a few rocks, maybe this is the rock tumbler for them. It's not poorly made, and does come with everything a child would need to get started, even a small hand full of rocks. I bought this because it was slightly cheaper than some of the more heavy duty tumblers available on Amazon. Once I get my refund I will be buying something that can handle a few pounds, instead of 8 ounces. Just something to think about if you're in the market for one of these machines.
