This book had such great reviews but was seriously disappointing. I felt that the authors focused more on being "racially inclusive" than actually focusing on the history of our country. There were so many important things left out and unimportant details included just to be racially inclusive. There's nothing wrong with learning about people of color who helped build America, but this book didn't do these people justice by only offering a once sentence blip with no context for each person. A separate book to focus on POC who helped build America and make it what it is today would have been a better choice. I had to return this book, because it really wasn't very educational and it missed such an opportunity to discuss American history.
