I bought this heater when I noticed the one I had was becoming inconsistant. I was happy that it was cheap because it was right before the holidays and I wanted to save a little money. Tetra has been around forever and I thought it was a brand that I could trust. However, after using this heater for about 3 weeks I was feeding my chainlink botias and female bettas and saw that they were covered in Ich. This shocked me because this tank had never had Ich before. Then I noticed that tbe temperature was 67 degrees f. The dang heater light was on and red, but not heating the water. I had those chainljnk botias for 7 years and I had a hard time gettig them. They are sensative fish that get Ich easily and cannot tolerate most Ich tretments. All of my fish died despite my best efforts to save them. I am super POed, I thought this was a brand I coud trust. Save your money and the lives of your fish. It would be safer to invest in a more exspensive heatet than this porely made cheap one. I will not buy any Tetra brand products ever again. I also work in the pet industry and would hesitate to recomend theese products to my customers.
