I have the same problem with this cooker as another reviewer who just posted today. I also had an older Aroma cooker with a see-through lid that was great. Lasted for about 15 years before finally not working anymore. So bought this replacement. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it just does not. But you only find out after the timer tells you the rice is “done”. You open the lid and find out it has just warmed the water a little. The brown setting seems to be the worst offender. It is extremely annoying as you don’t know until you open the lid. Unlike my old one you cannot see the rice cooking or not. Will be buying another brand and ditching this. Buyer beware. Updated 15-December: I also purchased one of these as a present for my daughter. She just reported hers does exactly the same thing - very unreliable, sometimes you wait 40 minutes and the timer goes off, you open it and the rice is not cooked. We have now thrown away 2 of these.. Don't buy this product. Buy an old fashioned rice cooker with a lid you can see through that just has an on button that moves to warm when the rice is done.
