I am more than disappointed with this item as, in the past I have owned and loved my many Farberware coffeepots. I originally ordered a pot on January 1 and was looking forward to receiving it. Unfortunately, once plugged in, the cord smoked and the base of pot had a heavy burning plastic smell. I immediately returned the pot and ordered another one. ( I am a glutton for punishment.) I got the second pot yesterday only to experience the exact same burning smell when pot was plugged in. I note that both pots were made in Mexico. (Both pots also had quality control stickers on the bottom, so I am not sure what level of quality Farberware now allows for. I did read other unfavorable reviews from buyers noting their pots were made in China but I ignored them .) Guess Farberware thought they would try Mexico this time for manufacturing. FYI, there is nothing like " Made in the USA ".) It is a shame that the one of the greatest coffee pot names has been come to this. I would continue my review but I must go to UPS to return this item asap so I can get my money back. (I would like to say that Amazon is great on returns!)
