A Comprehensive Review
I purchased the Galaxy S20 FE the first week it came out. I am betting that, like most of you, I had trouble finding a screen protector actually in stock. I realized I would have to wait at least 2 weeks if I wanted a decent screen protector. So here we are, after 2-3 weeks (product just came in yesterday).
Now, I want to establish some credibility first. I have bought almost every flagship phone Apple and Samsung came out with, starting with the Samsung Galaxy and the iPhone 3GS. Which means that I have been buying and installing screen protectors forever. Glass, film, wet installation, dry installation, etc. As many of you already know, glass tends to be the least hassle to install in terms of air bubbles forming and having to deal with the headache of removing them, being able to adjust it after installing; it's just so much easier to handle.
I have read almost every review on this product thus far, and I have to agree, there has to be something up with dust being found on the product right off the bat. As mentioned earlier, I have installed dozens of screen protectors. I never ran into this issue with the tempered glass ones. I can swear I thoroughly wiped the screen with the provided alcohol pad, cleaned it off with the provided cloth, and removed any remaining dust with the provided dust-absorber sticker. However, after installing, I noticed numerous air bubbles forming. I am convinced that the other reviews must be correct. The only other thing that can possibly be causing this problem is the environment I am installing it in (will refer back to this later).
Now, the PROS:
- It works very smooth with the fingerprint scanner (TIP: re-register your fingerprint AFTER installing the screen protector and enable touch sensitivity in settings). I was actually quite shocked. This is the first tempered glass screen protector on a Samsung that I have installed since the whole fingerpint being on the screen came about (since all of the glass protectors that were compatible ran about $20-$50 and hence, I have stuck to the film screen protectors on my Samsungs).
- Which leads me to the second positive- this screen protector is a great bang for your buck. You get 3 for like $8-$10, which is not bad at all.
- It feels very smooth and comfortable to use. I am typing this review on the Galaxy S20 FE with the screen protector freshly installed minutes ago. It almost feels like raw screen.
I will be updating this review in the near future when I install a second one of these (after this one breaks/wears out), possibly in a different environment and being more careful (even though I was super careful this time around. I will probably apply that solution they recommend spraying on your fingertips during a wet installation). If the dust problem does not occur, I will change this review to a 5 star (instead of 3) as it definitely deserves 5 stars had it not been for this air bubble issue. Until then, I am very disappointed at Supershieldz if this is an actual problem. They are a very well known and established company when it comes to screen protectors. Hopefully, they still hold value to their quality and customer service that got them where they are.
UPDATE (12/21/2020):
Just installed my second screen protector. And yes, there is dust in the screen protector underneath the protective film. There are multiple bubbles accross the screen despite near-perfect installation procedure. Very disappointed. I hope they see this review and fix this issue!
