Have used it for a couple of days. It's not bright enough! This unit is so huge that it needs a hood so light doesn't get in or get reflected in. The brightness setting doesn't overcome the outside light. At night the night time display is good. The background settings are a joke. I thought increased brightness could be created by changing background settings, from the US to Italy to Garmin all backgrounds are identical. It's too dark for direct sunlight. UPDATE: the original unit was returned due to it's dimness, the new unit is MUCH brighter, visible with polarized sunglasses. I did buy a hood to increase readability and prevent glare. I'll now give this unit 4-5 stars. I have a local road that was rerouted and returned to a planted field 30 years ago. All garmins want to route me over that long ago abandoned road. No problem as this unit has road and area avoidance, no it doesn't! I input the 3 long dead roads as roads to avoid, then went to area avoidance and had a big rectangle drawn around this area. It routed me across these long gone roads again. I can live with this but the machine doesn't avoid anything. Split screen and lane selection don't seem to be working, haven't seen a split screen nor lane guidance come out of the voice guidance system, nor on the display. I like that 3 different voices are available for guidance. The clearest one doesn't say road names just "next right". But the next clearest works OK.
