I bought two of these at the same time. I opened the box of the first one, pulled out the hard drive, and had problems trying to plug the USB cable in to the back of it. So I opened the second box only to realize that the first hard drive was defective. The slot to plug the USB into the hard drive is bent just enough so it won't allow the cable to slide in. This is ridiculous. Photo posted shows good (left) vs bad (right). This is a brand new hard drive from Western Digital via Amazon - I expect something of quality at least on day one. This is now my 4th issue (out of 5 orders) with Amazon. I am ready to start finding a more reliable website. I live outside the USA so it is not as easy for me. Now, Amazon is telling me that since I am out of the country I will have to pay for international shipping AGAIN. And I am even a "Prime Member". Unbelievable. This review goes against WD and Amazon.
