This makes it impossible to buy third party toner except toner that requires that you pop the chip off of a Brother-manufactured toner cartridge (TN730 or TN760) and stick it to the third party cartridge. Even then, the price of those third party cartridges is twice the typical price for third party cartridges that do not require the chip. Make SURE that you research the market for toner cartridges before you buy a Brother printer.
