Just on a whim, I tried to put 2 - 1/2 cups into another 1 cup that I already had. WAY too much. So then I tried it in yet another cup that I have that has graduation marks on it. Still, WAY too much. So then I broke out my digital scale and sure enough, the half cup is 4.7 ounces. Almost 25% too much. I bought these for baking bread - no WAY! So disappointed. And by the way - the ring on the cups is a solid ring - the cups can NOT be removed from the ring.
