★☆☆☆☆
A time... to retire?
A rambling, poorly plotted narrative with threads that lead nowhere, no clear climax and a denoument that resolves very little. Judged by the standards of the Grisham I came to love - lean, taut and fast-paced - this is a disaster. There are some good moments in the courtroom scenes, and the characters are typical Grisham - but the problem is, his characters have NEVER been deep and rounded enough for the "human interest" kind of legal thriller (like those turned out by Scott Turow, for instance) - and it seems that this is what he's trying to do here. I am really disappointed - and as it seems to be a trend (Camino Island!) , I do not think I would be buying any more books by this author.
