I thought I was getting a great water filter for the house and family. Unfortunately I did not. Instead I received acid water in a pitcher bottle. The filter attached to this pitcher changes the pH balance of the water from Alkaline to Acidic. Upon first use I tested the pH balance to the water and received a very acidic result. I figured it was a mistake or incorrect reading. So I filled the pitcher up with water again, and again, and again and the pH of the water continued to show acidity. I then tested the pH of my tap (New York City) water which has one of the best filtration systems in the world. And my pH was alkaline. I know the pH balance of water might not sound like a big deal but it actually is! The human body is naturally alkaline about 7.35 - 8.35. Acidic water as well as foods can decrease a person's alkalinity causing sickness, long term heath risk and sometimes even cancer! I'm sure the filter may have removed some lead and other trace elements from the water but to sacrifice the proper pH is unacceptable. I have a PUR water filter attached to my faucet which actually increase the pH to my tap to 8.5 - 9. I will never recommend or buy another Brita filter until they resolve this problem!!
