Probably, maybe, just a 1080p device
I use multiple different capture cards. Amateur to pro. I have come to the conclusion the the Elgato 4K60 Pro MK.2 is only a 1080p device. It does capture HDR and BT2020 colorspace. However I have two reason for thinking this:
1) First and foremost the captures of 4K material is very "soft" compared to other cards. At first I thought this was just me but now I'm more sure. The Avermedia GC573 captures a much sharper 4K signal with seeming higher res. However eyes can be deceiving...
2) But if you tro ro use this card in OBS Studio, the program's preferences report that the card is alternately a 1080p or 625p PAL capture device. Its specs in OBS studio report 4K but the default res seems to be 1080p and this seems to be the "information" that the card is able to capture. All other 4K cards I own, including GC 573, all report 2160p in OBS.
3) Also one will note the card maxes at ~50 Mbps e.g. at 2160p24. The AverMedia can capture level 6 HEVC at 100 Mbps plus at this resolution. That also could contribute to perceived visual softness in Elgato captures.
So beware of that. I am not sure Elgato is straight shooting with this product?
