DO NOT BUY THESE LOGS FOR AN INDOOR GAS FIREPLACE
I am a 3rd generation fireplace guy and a licensed gas piping contractor in North Carolina. It is the height of irresponsibility to suggest that these logs can be used in the manners described in this offering. These CANNOT be used in a vent free fireplace!! They CANNOT be used in an indoor vented fireplace. All of the credible gas burner and log kits must have a UL Listings for safety before they can be installed in a fireplace. THESE DO NOT HAVE THAT! You cannot merely put these logs on any burner (vented or, especially vent free) without probable damage to the inside of your home. ANY contact with the flame to these logs in a vent free fireplace will create carbon (soot), which will have no place to go except into your home. The soot will be mechanically sucked into your HVAC return and it will then spread all over your house. I have seen it happen countless times throughout my 30+ years in this industry. Since these logs do not have the required UL listing, they are not approved by international code, therefore whatever damage that you WILL incur will not be covered by your insurance. Credible gas log sets are very specifically designed and tested to be safe. If you place these logs on an existing vent free burner, in a vent free fireplace IT WILL SPREAD SOOT THROUGHOUT YOUR HOME. There is a picture in this thread of that precisely happening, and it was stated that is created $15,000 in damages (that his insurance company probably is not covering). I doubt this seller has the required general liability insurance that all of us in the fireplace and gas log industry are required to carry. PLEASE! Do not use these logs in your indoor fireplace! If you want gas logs, please have an experienced, licensed supplier/installer help you with it to ensure that your home and your family are safe.
