I bought the large and then became worried that it would be too big for air travel. My 12lb chiweenie was very comfortable though. Bought the medium to compare the difference. As you can see from the picture there is a great difference btwn the medium and the large. I wish there was a size in between. The large is just a little too large and the medium is just a little too small. Coco loves the large and gets in willingly but refuses to go into the medium
