Doesn't Work as Advertised, Save your Money
My dog has black nails and I wanted to start cutting them myself to save money, but I was nervous about nipping the nail quicks. In turn, I bought this product, hoping that it would really work. I read the reviews beforehand (I should have listened to them), and I figured I would just make sure to calibrate it and hope for the best. I watched the included DVD and followed all instructions, but the light usually showed red when any of her nail was close to it (even the end), and sometimes it showed green when it was definitely not safe to cut the nail.
After finding that the product didn't work as advertised, I figured I could just use it as a normal nail cutter, but I found that it just wasn't sharp enough and tended to pinch my dog's nails, which my dog would pull away from since it was probably uncomfortable. A couple of times, it even somewhat crushed/cracked my dog's nails when pressure was applied.
I would highly recommend just going with a normal pet nail cutter (like the Safari one on Amazon). It'll be much cheaper, and will probably work much better. After this product, I bought the Safari small/medium pet nail clipper, and it's worked great so far.
