Not worth the time spent using it and buying it
I purchased this product last week based on a raving review on how well it cleaned tiles as well as the use for wood floors. Yes this was an Amazon review I read and is one of the highly rated ones here. The reviewer did say if you don't like it return it, and that is what I am going to do. Anyway, we just recently purchased a house and retiled our floors. We wanted a product that can help us clean the floors effectively and within a good amount of time. The install of the product was easy. A few snaps and it is in place. Application of the product: First you need to vacuum the area first. I did that and because the area I was cleaning is about 3-400 sqft, it took a while. After the vacuum, it is advised that you dump the dirt you accumulated. Fairly easy and its amazing to see all the dirt that is captured. Once that is done, you need to mix the solution in with water. Not too hard. The measuring cup is designed as the lid and has a measuring line for you. Here comes the issue...when you use the floormate in the wet setting, it takes a ridiculously long time to clean the floors. You need to go over each area slowly or else you won't feel like you're letting the scrubbing work. You will see the scrub marks from the rotating scrubs at the base of the vacuum when your vacuum moves over a wet spot, except you can't go at the regular speed you would with a vacuum. You really do need to go over the surfaces slowly. You have to constantly press the handle to squirt water out. It goes through the solution fast too. The manual advises you to switch between wet and dry (which sucks up the water) in small areas at a time. I did that the first time, took too long. I tried just the wet setting the second time I used it, still took too long and there were puddles of water in some areas. There are no extensions to help suck up debris by the baseboards or tight corners. We gave up at this point and pulled out a bucket, mixed the solution and went at it the old fashion way with a rag because we felt our scrubbing was more effective and faster. Mind you, we've only lived in the house less than a week and so there are no heavy traffic marks or stains, yet we still couldn't help but go over the floors again because we didn't feel everything was scrubbed off from the FloorMate. I printed out the return label last night and the box is in my car ready to be dropped off at UPS. I will see how much I can get back. Also, if you do plan on returning it, you need to unscrew the long handle to be able to remove it and pack it in the box it came in. I truly hope this review helps potential buyers make an informed decision.
