Did Not Buy, Not Willing to Follow the Lemmings Off the Cliff
While YouTubing during COVID19, the ad for this product started and I was intrigued, letting the hour-long talk almost play out. I was interested to hear not about the product, as I knew there was a sales pitch embedded somewhere, but what exactly Gundry believes is at the root cause of ill health, his explanation of leaky gut, and how he proposes to tackle it.
I started to lose interest as the ad droned on and on, withholding the bottom line for nearly 50 minutes. And then the final throes, the sales pitch. Rush to place your order as supplies are limited. Only available through Gundry's website, too limited to sell in stores. Subscribe and Save may or may not be available anymore. Hurry. This all turned me off to no end, esp. when I found the product here on Amazon! The Gundry web features pop-up windows that indicate individual purchases happening as I had the page open. Another turn-off. The pressure to buy was nauseating. Of note is that if you buy the recommended special of 3 bottles and sign up for Subscribe and Save at the same time, you will get 3 bottles every... single... month. I closed the Gundry web page. Strike one.
I went to the BBB, and there are numerous complaints, nothing particularly out of the ordinary, but it was uncomfortable to read the accounts. Strike two.
Additionally, I read countless reviews here on Amazon. A mixed bag, enough to cause increasing doubt about the product. Many reviews mentioned the dreaded topic of bowel movements, and the effect this product has on them. While these are individual experiences, and we all respond differently depending on our physiological and physical make-up, I don't need a product that affects this part of my life's functions. I believe a great deal of gut health issues have to do with toxins and waste not being processed or expelled properly, so any product that has any kind of fiber additive will likely have an effect on "that" part of your life. There are many ways to manage/expel toxins in your body, using Terramin clay and activated charcoal are two of nature’s products that are awesome. These reviews drowned out the reviews that discussed having more energy, losing weight, having less joint pain. I came away disgusted at the number of reviews that focused exclusively on life's waste management, and shut down the Amazon product page. Strike three.
Well, I did come back to write this review.
In the meantime, while I take probiotics daily, I'm researching better products, primarily those that offer protection to the probiotics from the damaging stomach acid. There are actually many products out there that offer pre and probiotics, even in the same supplement, and protection against the probiotics being destroyed from stomach acid. And, no need to take FOUR Gundry tablets a day, and more cost effective. I also believe that overall health and well-being is not exclusive to one's gut health. Stress, anxiety and aging can wreak havoc and contribute to dreaded belly fat, not feeling well, and inability to lose weight. Thank you, cortisol! To tout that taking this product will make you feel better, lose weight, and ease joint pain is ignoring other factors that contribute to one's health and well-being. It's all interwoven and complicated! IMO.
And I've made a mental note to never listen to an hour-long ad again.
