Very Expensive and Very Gross
I bought the cat genie when my husband was out of town because I did not want to deal with the litter box anymore. Mistake... The thing is very difficult to set up by yourself. Also, the machine is huge and constantly in the way. If you think it will be the end of dealing with the grossness of the litter box you are very wrong. You get to deal with it in new fun even more disgusting ways. My personal favorite is when cat poo gets baked during the drying cycle and releases the most disgusting smell through the entire house. You think their poo regularly smells bad, try cooking it. Also, it is very difficult to have more than one cat on the cat genie if they are on the same eating schedule. We are picking up poo off the floor everyday because the cats wont use it if there is already something in it or if it smells bad (which is always). You're not going to save any money on litter either. The plastic granules stick to the cats and end up everywhere but the litter box so you will be buying a box of granules monthly. You also need to purchase the sani-solution monthly. So you are looking at a $250 initial investment, about $60 a month on supplies, and the cost of electricity and water to run something that will cause more headaches than you were having with the old school litter box. We are going back to a regular litter box after several months of trying to live with the cat genie.
