You mean, they still make films this bad? With all of the information floating around regarding the craft of film/TV storytelling, the many available books on the subject matter, so-called writer/directors are still making trash like this? Karen is self-explanatory in today's racial climate in America. But the title character here is nothing but a caricature, worst than a stereotypical Karen ripped from today's headlines. There was never any indication of what fueled her hate. You would think that she and her brother were born hating people of color, which isn't humanly possible. And unless she was suicidal or with a death wish, there is no way on God's green Earth that anyone would go to the extremes she took to deal with the black neighbors she hated so. Then there was the black neighbors, the victims of her unwarranted wrath, that didn't get the picture from Karen's blatant racism and hateful rhetoric, to begin with. They still took time to engage her, invite her to gatherings just to put her in a situation where she can spew her retorts about African-Americans, a scene that lacked any remnants of plausibility. What racist white women would be alone in a house filled with black people speaking her insulting, racist views in their faces? Maybe she was suicidal, an angle that was never developed. So, no. It was bad, preachy writing with on-the-nose dialogue. I am surprised movies like this still find financing. It doesn't work on any level.
