★☆☆☆☆
cringeworthy
What can I say the author obviously has never been to Ireland WE DO NOT TALK OR ACT OR LIVE LIKE THAT.
she clearly mixes up Scottish northern Irish and southern Irish language for your information
Aye is a Scottish and northern Ireland accent
A booger is what Dublin people call country people not the other way around and anyway we don't use that word anymore , again that was generations ago.
There are no gypsies in Ireland they are called travelers , gypsies are from eastern Europe, also any traveler reading this book and seeing the word knacker would be highly offended its the same as calling a black person the N word.
we do not hate the English
we do not live in cottages or have porches, you would be hard pressed to find a cottage with a dirt floor in Ireland now and if you did they would have just been built for the American tourist recently
we do not grow corn or eat cornbread in Ireland I understand its a staple in the US but not here
500 miles from limerick is the Irish sea its 124 miles from limerick to Dublin so to say there is no villages withing 500 miles of limerick is making Ireland out to be much bigger than it is
if an emp happened WE WOULD NOT ACT LIKE THAT
and its Jesus Mary and Joseph not jasus Joseph and Mary
we haven't said whisht since 1860
we don't address anyone as widow
and we are well able to take care of ourselves we have very few villages left in Ireland and what ones there are, all are within 3 or 4 miles from each other and if anything happened we wouldn't be in tents in a field we would be in apartments and houses, I live in the midlands in Ireland in a rural community and within 15 mins I can be in a major town from any direction from my house
travelers do not travel with horses and carriages the have mobile homes
if an emp happened to England and Ireland we would sort out our selves very quickly we are an agricultural country we have solar panels and everything !!!!!!!!!
we are not fond of peanut butter
I have read all 3 books and all i can say is i was cringing through most of it if this is what Americans think of Ireland your are very ignorant and must think we all live circa 200 years ago
We are a multi cultural society , we only speak Irish in certain parts of Ireland but it is dying out the average Irish person hasn't a clue how to speak Irish and its not Gaelic by the way that's the old language from the Celts which encompasses Scotland, wales and Ireland that language is similar to Irish but not the same again I would say to the author check your facts
there is so much more but I am so angry I cant think of anything else all I would say is to the author if you ever write another book set in Ireland please do us as the people of the country the courtesy of getting it right and not using stereotypes or what you think we might do and say. Its a wonder the were no leprechauns dancing around the place oh and by the way traveling from England, wales then to Ireland in a tee shirt in November , i don't think so. you can tell the author is from Florida and has no idea of the climate in this part of the world
A very irate Irish woman
