I have come to trust the Mary Ruth's brand for several supplements that we use regularly in our home because of the focus on quality, but now I feel totally betrayed! I have been taking these digest enzymes for a while hoping that I would notice easier digestion, but I didn't really get help with the post meal bloating and gas that I sometimes have, depending on what I eat. I finally stopped to take a closer look at what was in them and just about fell over when I saw the word MALTODEXTRIN in the ingredient list. I am shocked I didn't see it before. Just goes to show you how much I trusted the Mary Ruth's name! Sadly, not anymore. In case you aren't aware, Maltodextrin is toxic GARBAGE. In short, it is a common food additive that is a highly processed substance usually made from corn. It is a filler used to add bulk, increase thickness, improve taste, texture or consistency. What they don't tell you is that is is linked to IBS and IBD, Crohn's, ulcerative colitis. It also has a higher glycemic index score (95-136) than pure table sugar (65)!!! I'm sorry, but this additive trash has NO PLACE in ANY product claiming to help with digestion and gut issues. It almost feels like an outright crime to me. I used to love Mary Ruth's but all my respect for them as a company has gone right out the window, along with these enzymes. DO BETTER!!! I sincerely hope this review has been helpful to someone else! And yes, I paid full price for these. Feel free to ask any questions!
