We loved this carafe for the first 6 months. We used it daily, and it kept tea and coffee hot all day. Recently, we noticed there was water sloshing around in the lid and smelly flecks of green/brown coming out of the red pour button. We couldn’t open the area the water was in and the water pocket was separate from where the drink passed through. After a last-ditch effort to clean it and failing we smashed it open in the interest of science. We’ve attached pictures of what we found. We think that somehow the insulation in the top must have become wet during cleaning and consequently moldy. For this price, will we buy it again? Maybe. Will we make sure to avoid getting any water near the red pour button? Yes. Note: We did occasionally wash this part in the dishwasher and wouldn’t do so in the future.
