★★☆☆☆
It's marketed on the printer ink principle.
I'm a pretty competent do it yourselfer, I have owned Dremel products in the past and always been pleased with them. The tool itself is pretty nice. It feels solid, has plenty of power, does not look or feel cheaply made. It came in a nice case, had 4 blades etc (keep this in mind). I bought this as part of a restoration project in which I was putting down hardwood floors, its main use would be to undercut door moldings. The one blade I knew I would use the most was the 'flush cut' blade. That's a carbide 'multi purpose' blade with a drop center, advertised as being able to cut all kinds of stuff. I had to undercut 8 doorways, cut rectangular holes for the HVAC floor registers and trim the bottom of a cabinet so my refrigerator would fit. Surely this would not be a problem with a good quality tool. It took 3 blades (including the one that came with it). At $24.99 each. I was shocked at how the first one got dull so fast. I thought the carbide was getting clogged with wood debris, so I gently wire brushed the carbide chips with a brass brush; no luck. I bought another blade, it wore out super quick, too. I thought that was due to the aluminum oxide in the urethane wear surface of the hardwood flooring, I was able to complete all those cuts even though the blade would get HOT. That was late at night, couldn't just run out and buy another one. The next day I bought the third blade. After undercutting three doorways the last blade was smoking because it was wearing through the wood rather than cutting, it actually set off the smoke alarm. That is unacceptable. I paid $129.00 for the tool including the blades and the case, and it cost another $50 for two more blades. So I can only conclude that Dremel (now owned by Bosch) studied inkjet printer marketing: sell 'em the printer (saw) cheap but do it in such a way that the end user can only buy cartridges (blades) from them and burn 'em a new one for the cartridge (blade). This will very likely be the last Dremel product I will ever buy.
