Photo shows a whole wheat Irish soda bread loaf in the center from my Panasonic YD250 attempts 3 & 4 of my perfected sourdough bread machine recipe from this machine on the sides. I've been baking for 50 years and used bread machines for over 35 years. My beloved, most recent Panasonic YD250 has begun to struggle (and seems discontinued) so I ordered this one on a lightening sale. Ahem. While attracted to pros like ceramic pan, fruit & nut dispenser, dual coils and a multitude of settings, this thing has problems. Bread falls from pan easily, but paddle won't come out. Settings aren't that tough, manual and recipes are terrible. WORST and unforgivable, I have perfected a sourdough recipe that I've used with my own starter for years and tried 4 different setting to bake it in this machine. I also tried a completely different recipe. They all rise, then collapse, beginning dense and tough. With another reviewer, I suspect the machine gets too hot and kills the yeast (I add yeast/ sugar to speed up my sourdough for the bread machine). Or, it mixes too many times and over taxes the yeast. I see it rising in earlier stages. I've made all my own bread for over 30 years so it ain't me. 6 loaves later, it's going back. Hope this helps someone else.
