Comparative review vs. 5000
Oral B makes several toothbrushes that have similar features the 4000, 5000 and 7000 all deliver 40k pulsations/min and 8800+ oscillations/min according to the specs. The differences come down to other features and price.
the 4000 $65,
the 5000 is $110
the 7000 is $160
At each increase in price there are some additional features. For example, the 4000 does not have a pressure sensor to prevent you from brushing to hard, nor does it have a timer that displays how long you have been brushing and the mode you are in. The 5000 also added a deep cleaning mode that has you brush for 3 min instead of two. Personally I find the first two features facilitate better brushing habits and make the 5000 a better tooth brush than the 4000.
The differences between the 7000 and the 5000 however are minimal.
1. The 7000 is black
2. The travel case is nicer
3. A tongue brushing mode was added.
That's it, oh and the tongue brushing mode is just the sensitive mode with a single 20 second timer according to the manual and my experience.
For that they are charging an additional $50+. I have not found that any of these changes improve my brushing or habits. I see absolutely no reason to recommend this toothbrush as long as the 5000 is still available for sale at a cheaper price.
I did not give the toothbrush 1 star because it does work well, and at an appropriate price it would be worth purchasing.
