Something just didn't work out for me
Please don't hate me for this review and first of all let me tell you that I loved, love and will love Zeth till the end of world so I know how good and sexy and steamy Callie's books can be.
You can also predict that after reading first glimpses of Wren and Elodie's story among others in Bully anthology (I bought that anthology because of Callie as a matter of fact) I couldn't wait to put my hands on this book.
So how dare I give Riot House only 2 stars?
Here we go why... the beginning was amazing. A little unrealistic but nonetheless entertaining and leaving the reader with anticipation for more. Yea... that was the part where the anthology ended. So imagine my disappointment when I bought the full version and after chapter 10 till chapter forty something I must have FORCED myself to get through the rest of the book.
Like, what kind of story you tried to tell here, Callie? It feels like all the middle chapters should be rewritten or completly removed because there is almost absolutely nothig rellevant in them.
Not to mention that Elodie reasoning irritated me for most of the time, but Wren... Wren went from "You're nothing but a plaything" to "You're my whole effing world" in 3.2 seconds flat. What the hell? The supposed steamy scenes also did close to nothing for me. Sorry.
So to sum everything up here, I'd like to say that the writting was really good as I knew it would be, but the plot and main characters just didn't fullfill my expectations. And I saw all the good reviews so I guess that maybe it's just me, because as I mentioned earlier I loved Callie's previous works and I will certainly buy her another book.
