I wanted to love this toaster. It's gorgeous and I didn't want to spring for the $179 Breville toaster. Problem is - there are four separate heating elements inside each toaster slot with a 1-1/2" gap in between. So, the toaster may work OK for four regular slices of bread in their separate corners ( I didn't actually use it for that purpose in the short time I had it before returning it). However, if you want to use this for longer bread slices (which I why I purchased it), i.e., rye bread or artisan bread - the bread will not toast in the gaps between the heating elements.
