I made a commitment this year to make my diet more alkaline and to break the plastic water bottle habit. I have succeeded on both fronts with this great water filter. The water comes out crystal clear and tastes great! ***MAJOR DESIGN FLAW*** So, after a few months, I noticed that algae had begun to grow in the top of the filter. Needless to say, I was concerned, so, I wrote to Apex customer service and all they said was to move my filter away from any windows and to clean out the filter with vinegar. First, my sink sits between two windows so, it is impossible to move it away from sunlight. Second, how do you clean out the filter with vinegar?!? So, beware, if this filter gets sunlight, you will be getting filtered algae water. I am really disappointed with this product and the company's customer service.
