I bought the Ridgid 6.0 ... model 1450. ~I thought this was the best ever and it's turned into a nightmare that is ending in Typical Scam Artist treatment from the folks running the warranty department which fail terribly. 1. My "product" arrived and worked wonderfully for a few weeks of moderate use: I am a home owner who works on stuff at home and is careful with tools. 2. Suddenly, one day, when sucking up a bit of saw dust it just stopped. I let it rest and came back: it ran for several minutes then stopped. So, I just swept up and left. 3. A couple weeks later I needed to use it again to suck up a messy area where I was framing a new door. Suddenly the top engine area started SMOKING!!! I stopped it. It never ran again. 4. I called the RIDGID folks and gave warranty information; they gave instructions on sending it to them for replacement per warranty. I felt fairly treated. They said they'd call me after testing it. 5. Five or Six weeks passed and nothing from the warranty people; so, I called. They told me they "forgot" to call me and that their "guys" had tested the unit and it ran perfectly for them. I WAS SHOCKED ... THE DARN THING WAS LITERALLY SMOKING ON ME AND DIED. 6. The support person told me they'd check it again and get back to me. 7. A couple more weeks passed AND NO CALL. Then, one day a completely destroyed and poorly packed box with my RIDGID top engine part arrived. 8. I just ran it in the basement to PICK UP DUST ON THE FLOOR ... REALLY!!! JUST DUST. The engine COMPLETELY QUIT AND STOPPED WORKING. JUST TEN MINUTES. 9. So, THE COST OF PACKING IT UP AND SENDING IT BACK TO THEM WOULD BE MORE THAN THE COST OF A NEW UNIT... I FEEL LIKE I'VE BEEN SCAMMED BY THEM and i've been around the block a few times and know what that feels like. THE WARRANTY IS GREAT BUT THEY DON'T TELL YOU THEY WILL FIND A WAY TO JUST NEGATE IT AND SEND IT BACK TO YOU. Note: i liked this product so much that I actually purchased another new one while i was waiting for the WARRANTY (or lack there of) department to get back to me. I WILL NEVER EVER BUY FROM THIS COMPANY AGAIN. But, I will call them tomorrow and vent on them ... just wanted to warn people spending money on this product THAT THERE IS NO WARRANTY THEY WILL HONOR IN THE REAL WORLD, imo. I am so irritated ... I almost NEVER write a review and here I am wasting time doing that too. Life is interesting.
