I have had the Freetime app on an olphone that my girls sometimes used, and I always thought the interface was intuitive for children while giving the parents a nice set of controls. So, this past PrimeDay I ordered a pair of Fire tablets for my girls. While there is nothing wrong with the hardware, the updated Freetime app is an utter disappointment. Now, instead of showing only the content (app, books, and movies) that I have selected for my children, it has an overwhelming interface of tons of suggested content. This, in my opinion, defeats the whole point of having parental controls. If I can't control what content is on the device, what is the point?
