I don’t think the advertising copy on the Omron product page made it clear that you cannot use this unit out of the box. There’s apps to download, third party contractors, monthly fees, privacy issues involved. Also, many of the elderly friends of mine who would find a simple at-home EKG a useful part of their health protocol don’t have smart phones. Yes, there really are many people who don’t have smart phones. This unit would be as useful to them as a brick. I have nothing against this product and I’ve always been keen on Omron products – this time though, I think their marketing department needs to be more transparent with their advertising copy.
