The steering wheel controls worked fine when I took the vehicle home
I ordered this steering wheel control to go with a new Pioneer double din head unit, to go in my '05 Nissan Xterra. I had it professionally installed by a very reputable shop in my area, along with Apple CarPlay, XM antenna, and backup camera.
The steering wheel controls worked fine when I took the vehicle home, and stopped working later that evening. They worked fine the following morning, with no settings or anything changed. This intermittent behavior continued for the next 3 days, until I returned from a trip out of town.
I took my vehicle back to the installer at the car audio place this morning, and got them to check the connections and the settings, they found no issues. While the dash was still apart, I decided to have them remove this unit, and install a higher end steering wheel control unit. The new unit was $99, which considering what I spent on all the hardware plus installation costs, was a no brainer.
I have to give this product a poor review, because it didn't work well for me. Obviously it must not be a terrible product to have a 4 star review average. I don't know whether it works better with certain models of vehicles or not, or with newer vehicles versus older ones (mine is 13 years old). Do your research and form your own opinion, and buy from a reputable place like Amazon so you can return it if needed.
