Stunningly Bad Photo Quality!
I've always printed out my own pictures & loved my last Canon printer (Canon PIXMA MX712). The last printer ceased to function when an alarming message, indicating that I should unplug the printer immediately & call for service, popped up. It was 3 years old & I had a 2nd, much older HP printer that had died about a month before the Canon
I desperately needed a new printer for simple tasks, so I ordered this one. It was much cheaper than those I've had in the past, but unfortunately MUCH more expensive than it's current list price). The reviews seemed decent enough at the time (although I've noticed that the percentage of negative reviews has gone up significantly since then0 & I really liked the quality of photos generated on my last Canon printer.
This printer was completely painless to set up, & I was thrilled to just have a working printer again. However, I made the mistake of not testing the quality of photos soon after its purchase. Since I've never really had a major problem in all the years I've printed photos (at least 18 years & 6 printers), it didn't occur to me that photo quality would be a problem.
When Christmas rolled around & it was time for me to print some gifts, I encountered THE WORST picture quality I've ever seen in my life. The colors are absolutely horrendous, with large areas missing color altogether & a garish yellowish tint, after I had just replaced both of the ink cartridges.
I suppose I should have known better since there is only a single color cartridge, which I did not realize prior to setting up the printer. The pictures are so appallingly bad that I cannot believe I invested in this, &, given my experience, I have a hard time believed that anyone has been able to print high quality photographs. I've tried every maintenance tool available, multiple times, and I attempted to print dozens of photographs. I'm horrified by the results!
I'm submitting one of the original photos, followed by a scanned copy. I printed it on high quality photo paper, & scanned it on the printer using very high resolution.
