This toy can kill your cat.
BEWARE! DO NOT BUY!
I initially thought this was a great toy for my teething kitten. When he used it, you could tell it made him feel better. He is now almost a year old and rarely chews it anymore, but carries it around like a security blanket.
Every evening, by either my husband or myself, all the toys are picked up and put away except for a few plushies so we know he won't: a.) Wake us with louder toys. b.) Hurt or injure himself with toys like these ones he can chew apart or ones with strings so he doesn't strangle himself. We're very protective of him.
Lately, we hadn't been able to find this one. We looked everywhere. Hands, knees and flashlights. We figured it was under the fridge or stove.
Early this morning, I woke to him retching and finally vomiting. Several times. On the final expelling of substance, a green projectile came flying out of his mouth. Upon initial examination, I had no idea what it was. It was hard but still gave a bit when squeezed. I thought it was a large edamame at first but I can't remember the last time I ate that at home. After putting my glasses on, I saw the little star prints and realized what it was. No longer blue, but green from sitting in his poor tummy for who knows how long.
A whole lot of things made a whole lot of sense suddenly. He hadn't been finishing his dinner the past week. I'd sworn to my husband that his poops weren't normal. He'd spent minutes at a time just meowing the past week or more.
Poor thing had swallowed a large chunk of this dangerous toy.
We are SO incredibly lucky that he threw up this toy instead of causing a blockage in his intestines or bowels. I found the rest of the toy in a corner under the couch. Luckily he hadn't swallowed any of the rest of it.
Our Gus is clearly feeling much better since the events of the morning.
tl;dr: Do not buy this toy. It could kill your cat. Seriously. Don't buy it. Even if you are vigilant about everything your cat does like we are. Just don't.
Edit: I see the other review from March with a similar picture. We purchased this in December of last year. I'm sad other cats have clearly suffered because of this toy.
