Great if you really don't like being a parent, awful otherwise
I tend to take a rather distanced view from most published material regarding child rearing and tend to pick and choose what works exclusively for our family and our situations. That being said, the general information on things like diapers and bowel movements and things is about as typical as you're going to get.. Not remarkable at all. However, the rating itself comes from a number of the recommended tips, especially those for helping a baby sleep. The book informs parents that they should leave their baby, from newborn onward, alone in a crib to get them to sleep without providing routine or any comfort. If they scream to the point of vomiting, fine - swoop in, change them and the sheets without making eye contact or speaking to them, and then leave again and close the door so they, and I quote, don't "get [their] hopes up allowing [them] to think that [they] will be cuddled and fed." I've been there. I have done that. Because it's what you do, right? Babies need to learn to self-soothe? No. Not from newborn. Not like this. Not without a parent LOVING and CARING for them. I have been there and it is wrong and NOT the way to care for your babies. If you have been giving this to parents, please realize that they will be seeing this information. This disgusts me. This is so wrong.
