As someone who has read all of JRR Tolkien's works, including his translations of classical Anglo-Saxon literature, I find this show to be an absolute disgrace. Obviously, it is fine to take some liberties with the Tolkien lore and develop new story lines in a creative way. However, the money that was poured into the special effects and costumes would have been better spent on developing a better plot. Only watched the first episode, and I am already frustrated by the pitiful plot that is unfolding on screen. It appears like the writers for the screenplay are grasping for straws at this point, and squeezing the life out of the Silmarillon.
