Hurricane Michael just devastated my community, and another day without electricity. I bought 2 of these a few months back when loss of power resulted from a previous hurricane. To my dismay, there are no instructions, no nibs marking a "sweet spot" and only by luck, do I have an internet connection. Shame on this company for branding this item as their own. You have introduced much unnecessary frustration to people in need of reliable gear and in a state of desperation. How hard would it have been to include enough information to make this work out of the box? I can assure that the majority of your customers can or will need info that this is not a plug and play lantern. If you can't make a product that is proven reliable enough that an idiot can't just insert the battery, screw on the cover and press a button to enjoy 85 lumens in the dark, don't risk losing the faith of your customers by selling a piece of junk, which will be the conclusion most survivors will formulate. Really let down, and though I was finally able to get the lantern to function, I can't deny the absolute frustration it took to get there. You should recall this product, or risk thousands or more customers completely dissatisfied with your brand. I had instant luck with all the other foreign, no name, seemingly junky battery operated lights, and frankly, I have changed my mind about those items. Right now, I'm living in a post apocalypstic universe and those brands have restored some sense of what luxuries are no longer available. Ray O Vac seriously needs to rethink "affordable" and produce an item that consumers will think reliable - first and foremost - in their time of need.
